Art Show and Biggby Art Competition Save the Date!

It was great seeing many families and current and past students during the conferences this past week! Thank you for your encouragement and support of our young artist. Soon there will be more artwork being sent home as probably one of the most difficult task that I have in picking art for the various shows. Much of the artwork is held onto for not only the District wide art show, but also "Parks Wall's of Fame" framed art work, Grand Rapids Art Festival at the GRAM at the start of summer and for other special opportunities like our newest commitment to a Biggby art competition. Please read on to learn more about some of these exciting opportunities to showcase and view artworks that demonstrate the hard work and dedication to the visual arts at Park. I am so very proud of all of our students here at Park and feel honored to be their art teacher.

Our 16th Annual District Art Show will be here before you know sure to save the date! Each year our Elementary, Middle, and High School Art teachers collectively select hundreds of the very best works of art created by our talented students for one of the best student art shows you will ever view. Save the date now - you won't want to miss this spectacular show!

Districtwide Hudsonville Student Art Show

Hudsonville City Hall
open weekdays 8-5

April 18, 2016 - April 26, 2016

Park Artist Reception 5:30-7:30pm, Monday April 25
Everyone is invited to attend the reception between these times and enjoy viewing the great variety of artwork. Hudsonville City Hall is located at 3275 Central Blvd. For more information and to see a video from last years show please visit our Hudsonville Art Program Blog.

When we get back from Spring Break special invites will be sent home with the individual students who have an art piece featured in the art show.

Also something new! Some of our art will also be traveling to Biggby!  We were invited by Biggby to have an art show at their 32nd Street location. I have hopes for our Park Artists with peer and family support that we will win the top prizes. I may have students help vote on which pieces should travel to the Biggby art show competition.. then I will need all of your help!

Starting right after our district wide art show comes to an end please stop by the Biggby coffee shop on 32nd Street, north of 196 and vote for your favorite artwork! The owner will be giving out great prizes for artworks that get the most votes! There are different cash value gift cards to art supply stores along with Biggby gift cards along with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons and a Biggby workers Staff choice award.

Similar to GR Art Prize the public gets to vote on which artwork they like most but there is no limit to how many times you can go and vote for an artwork. We will be sharing in the fun competition with Alward Elementary who will be representing 1/2 of the art in the show. Lets make sure we get out and vote and represent Park Elementary.

Please mark your calendars the contest runs from April 27- May 4, 2016.
There is no limit on the number of times you can go and vote, and no purchase is necessary to vote.

Thanks again for all your support!
